Standardised global service
Client: FTSE250 Financial Services
Pre-existing technologies: NetBackup, Backup Exec
Servers: 350
Sites: Three across UK, USA & Asia
Challenge:
Part of the client’s business was sold off and with it most of the IT infrastructure including a number of backup environments of varying sizes. After a period of shared services, the client quickly had to find an alternative.
Outcome:
Prior to the divestment, the company already had a strategy to selectively adopt infrastructure-as-a-service and public cloud and, given a tight timeframe for migration amongst many competing IT separation needs, BaaS met the requirements. Following a successful and speedy proof of concept, the UK rollout was prioritised as the largest region, integrating with public cloud as a target for long term retention. Migration of the US and Asia followed and the client’s separation deadline met.
